MORNING MINE PHASE II ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENT, MULLAN, ID

TerraGraphics worked with a multitude of stakeholders on the characterization and subsequent testing of remedial cover systems at the Morning Mine and Mill site. TerraGraphics was responsible for a site characterization of this mine waste pile. Various sampling strategies were used during characterization activities; including borehole drilling, backhoe test pits, and surface sediment sampling.

TerraGraphics worked with the EPA and other government agencies to coordinate the analysis of samples using XRF. The XRF was used for screening purposes while at the same time saving over $10,000 in analytical costs.

The information gathered from the site characterization was used to identify the various types of risks, narrow the remedial action objectives, and focus the remedial alternatives for the site. TerraGraphics lead a stakeholder meeting to discuss the various results and promote discussion on possible alternatives for evaluating the success of the cover systems used.
