Hydrologic
Services
TerraGraphics offers
the full range of services to our clients for their water source needs. We have
been involved in some of the largest watershed restoration projects in the Pacific
Northwest. We also contribute conscientious engineering design to watershed
restoration projects by addressing water quality and assuring a sustainable
ecosystem. Our primary disciplines include:
- River and stream
rehabilitation
- Impacted watershed
rehabilitation
- Wetlands
- Wildlife and
fisheries habitat
- Flood Management
- Urban surface
water control
- Water Quality
management
TerraGraphics has
extensive experience in working with highly impacted watersheds
under federal and state jurisdiction. Many of our projects include unusual
components such as heavy metals contaminated sediment and denuded hillsides.
TerraGraphics can
assist at all levels of planning from gathering field data for assessing current
stream conditions and fish populations, to evaluating and developing plans and
ordinances for Endangered Species Act (ESA) and other state and federal requirements.
Following is a list of our services:
- Stream restoration
design, engineering, and monitoring
- Hydrologic and
hydraulic flow modeling
- Sediment Transport
- TMDL technical
support
- Floodplain restoration
and analysis
- Wetlands delineation/mitigation/banking
- Endangered Species
Act (ESA) compliance and evaluation of critical area ordinances
- Watershed Advisory
Group (WAG) planning/ team participation/facilitation
- Funding identification
and grant writing
- Reconnaissance
and strategic stream/riparian habitat surveys
- Permitting design
and submission
- Monitoring/implementation
of plans (adaptive management strategies)
We use HEC and
MIKE modeling packages for hydrologic, hydraulic and sediment modeling. We are
familiar with federal standards for watershed assessment, fisheries and watershed
planning, and wetland standards.
Stream Restoration
TerraGraphics watershed engineering expertise includes:
- Conducting Field
Surveys
- Preparing Construction
Plans/Specifications
- Natural Channel
Design
- Mining-Impacted
Watershed Restoration
- Culvert Analysis
and Design
- Administering
Construction Contracts
- Drainage Analysis
- Design/Build
TerraGraphics engineers
and scientists have restored streams to enhance salmonid habitat and ecological
processes. Our interdisciplinary team has carried restoration projects through
conceptual, preliminary, and final design and construction phases. Our engineering
design and construction approach considers all key watershed processes to ensure
effective performance of the restoration project.
Our projects have
included sites impacted by several types of land uses including 1) Agricultural,
2) Mining, and 3) Forest. We have extensive experience with site impacted by
dredging, mining, and heavy metals. Additional considerations to these projects
have included:
- Groundwater
contamination mitigation
- Construction
techniques to contain metal releases
- Site controls
to limit downstream impacts
- Wetlands for
habitat creation and water quality improvements
We employ techniques
that result in a more natural stream channel restoration including natural channel
design, constructed wetlands, stream bank stabilization, wildlife habitat development,
floodplain restoration, stream classification, and hydrologic/hydraulic/sediment
modeling.
